Google now officially rewards not only <a href=\"https:\/\/webmasters.googleblog.com\/2019\/08\/core-updates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">good content<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/webmasters.googleblog.com\/2018\/01\/using-page-speed-in-mobile-search.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">page load speed<\/a> but also mobile-first responsive web design. Spree Commerce 4.1 delivers all three for E-Commerce projects.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>What Google announced<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Google will switch to mobile-first indexing for all websites starting September 2020<\/li>\n<li>Google will continue moving sites to mobile-first indexing when it recognizes a site is ready<\/li>\n<li>Google recommends:\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/mobile-sites\/mobile-seo\/responsive-design\">responsive web design<\/a> (RWD) for new websites<\/li>\n<li>making sure that the content shown is the same (including text, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/114016\">images<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/156442\">videos<\/a>, links), and that meta data (<a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/35624\">titles and descriptions<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/reference\/robots_meta_tag\">robots meta tags<\/a>) and all\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/search\/docs\/guides\/search-gallery\">structured data<\/a>\u00a0is the same<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Google discourages from using separate mobile URLs (often called &#8220;m-dot&#8221;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/search.google.com\/test\/mobile-friendly\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google mobile-first test tool<\/a> to see if Google considers your website ready for mobile-first indexing.<\/p>\n<h2>What we read between the lines<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>mobile-first content-driven E-commerce is now the official standard recognized by Google<\/li>\n<li>some websites will drop in Google search rankings and lose organic traffic\n<ul>\n<li>non-responsive pages<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;m-dot&#8221; mobile sites<\/li>\n<li>websites with content differences between the mobile and desktop versions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>some websites designed as desktop-first (like B2B websites) should consider RWD re-design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Spree 4.1 comes with a brand new responsive UX<\/h2>\n<p>We&#8217;ve <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/new-spree-ux\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">redesigned the Storefront UX<\/a> from scratch for the mobile.
